What are blocking fees when charging via Shell Recharge?

As of the end of 2023, Shell Recharge charges extra fees when you keep a charging point of Road (e-Flux) or EVBox in the Shell Recharge roaming network, occupied for more than four hours. The Shell Recharge app shows which partner owns a charging point, when you tap on the specific charging point. If you charge with another partner or Shell Recharge itself, there are no blocking fees. If you have a Shell Recharge home charger, you also don’t pay any blocking fees.

Shell charges these extra costs after 240 minutes (4 hours) of charging at a rate of €0.05 per minute, with a maximum of €12 per charging session. You can still charge your EV after 240 minutes, but the extra fees will be added on top of the regular charging costs. Extra fees also apply at night. Read more? Abroad, including in Germany and Austria, a time rate also applies in addition to the kWh rate. Charging for too long can also lead to an extra fee.
