More and more apps help you make electric driving – especially on a longer trip – a little easier. In this article, you’ll find an overview of 7 popular apps that will help you find a charging point and give you other useful features.

Shell Recharge app 

With this app:  

▪Find over 300,000 charging points spread across 35 countries in Europe.  

▪Filter by availability, charger type, plug type and charging speed.  

▪Discover what the charging costs are for the particular charging point.  

▪Use additional options if you own a Shell Recharge charging product. You can track your charging history, get real-time updates on charging status when your car is at the pole, and start a charging session through the app. 

Plugsurfing app 

With this app: 

▪Have an overview of over half a million charging points across Europe. 

▪Check a charging point’s availability, charging capacity, and connection type. 

▪See what the charging rates of the charging points are. 

▪Have the ability to create a list of your favourite charging points so you can immediately see which of them are available when you want to charge.  

Tesla app 

With this app:  

●Have the ability to track the current status of your charging session and start/end a charging session.  

●Check your charging history in your account. 

▪Schedule a service or maintenance appointment.  

▪You can purchase the Premium Connectivity subscription for even more ways to enjoy the car, such as Live Traffic Display and Sentry Mode. 

▪Find all locations of Tesla supercharge stations. 

Chargemap app 

With this app: 

▪Have an overview of over half a million charging points across Europe.  

▪Can plan your route so that you can be sure to encounter a charging station in time during your journey. 

▪Filter by charging cost, charger type, plug type, charging speed, services near the charging station and charging station score. 

▪Like all other Chargemap users, you can rate the charging stations in the app and add a photo of the charging station in question. This way, you can be sure that the location of the charging station is still correct; the location meets your needs in terms of the type of charger/plug and how the charging station and its surroundings look.  

Smoov app 

With this app:  

▪Have an overview of public charging points in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom.  

▪Check a charging point’s availability, charging capacity, and connection type. 

Navigate to the charging point of your choice. The charging point can be seen with Google Streetview, so you can see exactly where the charging point is located. 

▪Filter on poles that allow you to pay via the app without a charge card. The app has several payment methods you can link to your account. 

Fastned app 

With this app:  

▪Have an overview of fast chargers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, France and Switzerland. 

Navigate to the charging station of your choice.  

▪Can link different payment methods to your account. No charge card is needed to start the charging session. 

▪Note: Only available for vehicles with AC, CCS or CHAdeMO plugs. In addition, not all PHEVs can use the Fastned chargers. 

A Better Route Planner app 

With this app: 

▪Plan your route from A to B. Based on your vehicle data, the app indicates the best place and time to stop to charge. Among other things, the app takes into account weather, speed limits and roads to plan the best stops.  

▪Set your preferences for charging stations and charging settings.
