Yes, really: you can even take your electric car on holiday during the winter without worry. Colleagues from LeasePlan and ALD Automotive Netherlands will show you how. This time, Jonathan and his family set off in the Tesla Model Y toward cosy Neukirchen in Austria.

Jonathan: “We’ve gone to Austria with the EV before and it went really well! Although the range decreases slightly in the cold, this is not a problem for us. Even when we drive up the mountains, the battery recharges quickly as we go back down. So we don’t have to make any extra stops, but just keep charging a little longer at each stop we do make.

Finding charging spots in Germany and Austria is also easy. We go to an Autohof whenever we need to charge, which is often quieter and just 1 kilometre from the exit. These also feature more stores, restaurants and amenities to allow you to stretch your legs and grab a bite to eat. A great tip for when you’re travelling with young children!

Another thing that makes travelling with an EV so nice: because of the quiet driving and longer layovers with an electric car, I arrive at my destination much more relaxed. The vacation actually begins from the moment we get into the car.”
